Merchant FAQs
This FAQ summarizes the key capabilities and workflows demonstrated in the NodeRails crypto payments infrastructure demo for merchants and organizations looking to accept and manage crypto payments.
Getting Started and Onboarding
To sign up, go to the merchant login page and choose to create a new account. Enter your email and a password, then click “Create Account.” You will then go through a brief verification and onboarding flow.
The onboarding process takes about thirty seconds. You need to specify whether you are registering as an individual or a business and then create your first app (testnet or production). Additional details, such as wallet connections, can be configured during or after onboarding.
A test app is used when you are in sandbox mode, just testing and exploring the platform without handling real payments. A production app is used when you are ready to accept real payments from customers in a live environment. You can start with a test app and later create a production app in a similar way.
You can skip wallet connection initially, but you must connect a wallet to receive settled funds. When users pay you, the settled funds go directly to your wallet, so you need to authorize the use of a wallet and sign in to verify ownership before going live.
NodeRails is a non-custodial platform. Funds settle directly to the merchant’s wallet rather than being held by the platform.
Apps, Dashboard, and Analytics
The organization-level overview shows aggregated details and analytics across your organization, such as which tokens or networks customers are using, and active subscriptions across all apps. The app-level dashboard focuses on metrics for a specific app, including monthly revenue rate, disputes, refunds, active subscriptions, total payments, and more.
Yes. You can create multiple apps for different properties such as a website, mobile app, or any tool where you accept payments. Each app can have its own configuration and analytics while still being managed under the same organization.
For each app, you can track monthly revenue rate, disputes, refunds, active subscriptions, total payments, and checkout sessions happening on your website or product. The platform also tracks customers, their wallets, and spending behavior automatically whenever someone pays you.
Wallets, Networks, Tokens, and Settlement
At the app level, you must enable the networks on which you want to accept payments, such as Ethereum Sepolia. For each enabled network, you then select which tokens you want to accept and can toggle them on or off as needed. This configuration can also be customized per payment using the SDK.
Yes. You can accept payments on multiple chains, including Ethereum, Solana, Sui, and X Layer. For each chain, you need to connect the relevant wallet (for example, separate wallets for Solana and Sui) to receive settlements.
With “convert to one token” enabled, you can accept any supported cryptocurrency and have all incoming payments converted into a stablecoin at payment time. The platform handles the conversion so that you are not exposed to volatility in other cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin or Ethereum.
“Settle to one chain” allows you to consolidate settlements on a single blockchain. Instead of receiving funds on multiple chains (e.g., Ethereum, Solana, Sui, X Layer), you can choose one chain and one token to settle in, and the platform handles the swapping and bridging for you.
Banking, Fiat Settlement, and Global Accounts
Yes. If you prefer to settle funds to a bank rather than to a merchant wallet, you can connect your own bank account, provide the required information, and complete KYC or KYB. After that, you can configure settlement to bank.
If you do not have a bank account, you can open global accounts (for example, USD, Euro, BRL, GBP accounts) through the platform at a rate of thirty dollars per year. Funds settle to your wallet through these accounts and are converted to stablecoins.
Yes. You can use the payout functionality to send funds to banks around the world in stablecoins or crypto, in addition to wallet payouts. Before using payouts to bank, you must connect your bank account.
Team Management, Taxes, and Configuration
Yes. As an organization or individual merchant, you can add team members and assign permissions that define what they can monitor and access within your organization. This allows for controlled collaboration on financial operations and configuration.
You can define tax rates such as GST or VAT based on the country in which you operate. These tax rates can then be applied to payments, including payment links, so that appropriate tax is calculated and collected.
Payment Links and Checkout Experience
To create a payment link, go to the payment link section and provide a name (for example, “pro payment link for my web app”). You can associate a product plan if you have created one, or simply specify an amount (e.g., one US dollar), add a description, optional success and cancel URLs, and choose any applicable tax rates. You can also configure which networks and tokens are allowed for that specific link, then click “Create Link” to generate a shareable URL.
Customers visiting the payment link see a checkout page where they can select the network and currency they want to pay with. The platform automatically handles currency conversions and allows users to connect their wallets seamlessly. Customers enter their email and billing details and then authorize and complete the payment.
Yes. When creating a payment link, you can enable a setting to require billing details. This ensures that customers must provide their billing information before completing payment.
Payment Flow: Authorize, Capture, Settle
Refunds, Disputes, and Fraud Handling
Yes. You can issue refunds directly from the platform. Refunds can be full, based on a percentage of the original amount, or based on a specific amount, providing fine-grained control over how much is returned to the customer.
There is a dedicated dispute section where you can view and respond to disputes. Customers can open disputes if there is a problem with a payment, and the platform provides fraud and chargeback support, handling the process for both merchants and users.
Subscriptions, Invoices, and Recurring Billing
You can create product plans (for example, ten dollar, twenty dollar, thirty dollar plans) and use them to set up recurring billing. Subscriptions can be configured to charge customers every week, every month, or yearly, and you can manage and refund subscription payments similarly to one-time payments.
Yes. You can generate invoices within the platform and send them to customers via email. Customers pay on those invoices, and the funds are settled directly to your wallet.
Payouts and Recipient Management
The platform supports payouts to global wallets and banks in stablecoins or other crypto. This can be used, for example, to send global salaries or other payments worldwide.
Yes. You can manage recipients for payouts and track related activity within the platform. This helps you maintain a clear record of outgoing payments.
SDK and Developer Controls
Yes. All operations demonstrated in the interface - such as configuring networks and tokens, setting per-payment currencies, creating payment links, and more - can also be performed using the SDK. This allows developers to integrate NodeRails functionality directly into their applications and workflows.
Customer Receipts and Documentation
Yes. Customers who pay through your platform receive a payment receipt from NodeRails. They also receive a system-generated PDF document containing all necessary information, which they can use for purposes such as visa applications or tax reporting.
